Q: Crown Victoria?
How Many Miles To The Gallon Does A P71 Crown Victoria Get?
A: I had a 1992 P71, and I once monitored my mileage at 27 mpg on the Interstate. The 4.6 V8, whatever its flaws, is quite a fuel-sipper.
Q: Why is the Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor so popularly used even though it is so slow?
The newer Crown Victoria Police Interceptor has a 250 hp V-8 engine and accelerates 0-60 mph in nearly 9 seconds…8.75 seconds to be exact. Meanwhile, a V-6 Toyota Camry goes 0-60 in only 5.9 seconds. I know there is a weight difference between these two vehicles, but clearly using a different engine would make it a non-issue.
Why are the Police Interceptors outfitted with such small V-8 engines that render such slow acceleration?
A: Its very cheap to buy. Its very cheap to maintain. Its very durable because its got a full frame. Its got a lot of room for their computers, equipment, losers in the backseat.
Your Camry isn’t going to hold all that stuff. Its not going to take the abuse. Its going to cost more to buy.
If required the police have faster vehicles for high speed chases. They also have many cars, radios, and in larger cities helicopters.
Q: My engine on my crown victoria wont start?
I have a 1988 ford crown victoria LTD and my engine wont start. It started well one month ago and now it won’t start. I put in a new battery and it’s hooked up right, I put gasoline in it and the engine receives gas but it won’t start. What’s wrong with It?
A: pull the number one spark plug out and check to see if you are getting spark…..from the sounds of it your not i would chang the disturber cap and change the rotor and cap and then recheck for spark
let me know you can personally e-mail me if you wish
Q: Are you likely to pull over a black crown victoria with several police options?
Mine is all black, says police interceptor, blacked out grill, spot lights, and the Push Bumper.
Am I impersonating an officer with this 2005 crown victoria or am I safe in virtually all jurisdictions?
A: No more likely than any other car. But if I saw you in your car I would wonder if you were a squirrel.
Q: 1990 LTD Crown Victoria restoration project, where is the best place to find aftermarket parts?
I am looking for aftermarket parts for my 1990 LTD Crown Victoria restoration project. I am looking for newer technology parts (ex. Headlights, Tail lights etc). Also where would be a good place to get police wig wag kits? Stroke light conversion? I am trying to replicate (but make unique) the old style police vehicles.
A: You might try United Bumper. They carry a wide array of aftermarket parts.
Q: What kind of gas mileage does a Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor get?
I’m thinking about getting a Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor and was just wondering what they get for mileage with the 4.6L V8. It has to be better than what my truck is getting so that’s why I’m looking at a CVPI.
A: From a low of 13 in town to a high of 23 on the freeway..
Q: Who thinks the crown victoria is ugly or attractive?
I think the crown victoria is a very ugly car but i know someone who thinks its the best looking car out there. I was just wondering what others opinions of how it looks are and why?
Don’t get me wrong, performance wise you can’t beat it, but I’m talking looks. On first glance does it strike you as ugly, attractive, or just ok.
A: I own an 04 Mercury Marauder and love the way it looks. But, I am old and my opinion doesn’t carry much weight with younger people. Surprisingly my 23 year old daughter loves the car and wants to borrow it all the time. This is the same daughter who said she wouldn’t be caught dead riding in a cop car. Ironic?

Q: could a crown victoria engine fit in a mustang gt?
I am getting a crown victoria to pull the engine out and I was wondering, since it is a v8 4.6 liter engine, same as the mustang gt, but the one issue i found was, the engines in the mustangs is a sohc while a crown vic is a ohv. Would that matter, or should I just sell the crown vic as is?
A: crown vics are overhead cammed. i was being curious on the specs of a crown vic. you wont benefit from any power unless your a 96 to 98 gt, only a 5 hp gain. and from the latest crown vic, 07 the max hp is 224 hp and 275 tq.
Q: How do I replace the starter on a 93 Crown Victoria?
I have a 1993 Crown Victoria and need to replace the starter. I was able to remove the first bolt pretty easily. The second I had to use a stubby ratchet and was able to only turn it a couple clicks at a time. The third seems impossible to get. Do I need any special tools? If so what?
Thanks!
“try an extension on the socket. maybe even a universal. “
Have tried both already no luck!
A: try an extension on the socket. maybe even a universal. The designers don’t think of the people that have to work on them. Hang in there and try different ways and you will find one that will work easily for you. Good Luck
Q: Can I install a limited slip differential in my 97 Ford Crown Victoria?
I have a low-mileage Crown Victoria, 1997. A good car, but now I live in hilly Pittsburgh and I really would like to have better traction in the winter! Was there a limited-slip rear end made for the 97 Crown Vic, and could that be installed in my car?
A: Yes, a limited slip or “Traction-Lok” carrier can be installed in place of the non-locking rear end. Just look into any Ford Motorsport catalogue and you’ll see them readily available. The price from Ford Motorsport will be significantly less than one purchased through the Ford dealer parts department. If you want to go cheaper than that, just source a used one out of any Ford product equipped with an 8.8″ rear end. Installation is just a direct bolt-in. Just make sure the backlash and ring gear tooth contact pattern is correct after installation. Don’t forget to add the friction modifier additive afterwards. Hope this helps.
Q: How can you retrieve the keycode on a 2002 Ford Crown Victoria?
I know the dealer can get it. But I been told that they usually have printed somewhere on the car. Does anyone happen to know where the code might be printed on a 02 crown victoria; its an LX model.
Trying to save some money
A: Gear box is correct………The code is under the door panel on the driver side door
Q: How much does it cost to make a 2000 Ford Crown Victoria LX badass?
How much do you think it would cost to have a 2000 Ford Crown Victoria LX turned into an amazing car?
A: For a nine year old car it would cost more than the car was worth. It would ONLY be worth the expense if you planned on keeping it for a LONG time.
Q: How much trunk space does a Ford Crown Victoria have?
It is a possibility that i get a Crown Victoria as my first car, and was wondering how much trunk space it has.
A: its about a ten body trunk. lol. but seriously the trunks are HUGE on those cars, that’s one reason the cops use them. they have to put a lot of equipment in the trunks like: radios, computers, safety gear, and cleaning equipment among other things.
Q: How will the engine’s condition be if i also add 35 more torque to a 2000 Crown Victoria?
I’ve recently posted a question asking if it’s bad to add 35hp to a 2000 Crown Victoria by simply installing a program into the ECU. Seven out of eight people say nothing will go wrong with the engine, but I didn’t specify that it will also add 35 more lb./ft of torque. That is why I’m asking this question.
A: I would not worry . You won’t even get that. Read the fine print, you will probably find that you need to do other upgrades to achieve the maximum. like making the engine breath better. Air intake/high flow exhaust. Have fun
