mustang cobra svt what all would i have to do to a mustang cobra to put a kenne bell supercharger on it but will it hurt the motor and if so wat all would i have to do to it for it not to hurt the motor and is there any way for it not to hurt the motor i dont know much about how superchargers are with maintnance and are they worth it????

A: Nice choice going with the Kenne Bell. They have a few different sizes of superchargers available.

The year model mustang/cobra you have depends on what damages could happen to the motor if you give to much boost or hp increase. For example a newer 4.6l block can handle up to 600 hp w/o major modification, as a 5.0 can not.

As far as the s/c hurting the motor- don’t worry about it b/c the s/c manuf. will offer you what is best for your application. Just remember you’ll need to upgrade some things on the motor when adding a supercharger to get the right performance, such as upgraded: fuel system, intake, MAF, exhaust, etc.
Once your s/c is installed, you’ll need to go to a tuner/dyno shop to tweak the fuel/air mix for optimal perfomance and to deter detonation. More $

Don’t think it’s simple as just bolting one of these on…and that’s not even easy. As far as maintenance goes, they are straight forward and the bearings are kept cool b/c you’ll have an oil feed going to the casings.

Why do some 03-04 Cobra have the regular pony in the grill, and some Cobra’s have the snake? Is there a difference in performance?

A: Thank you xc220, you are the first person to actualy answer the question that was asked correctly. No offense to some of the people that answered previously because a few of you are my friends and I am not trying to insult you in any way. When they are made at the factory, all 2003 and 2004 cobras had ponies put on the grill. After someone buys the car, the person who bought it has to order a replacement cobra from a speciallty store to put on the grill instead of the pony if thats what they want. So there is no difference in performance or anything else. All 03/04 cobras come from the factory with the pony and you have to buy the cobra yourself and put it on. Trust me on this, I own and know everything about the 03/04 cobras. It is my dream car. I go to all the shows and spend my weekends at the track.

I GARUNTEE YOU EVERYONE IS WRONG EXCEPT FOR ME AND XC220. I love and live for the 03/04 cobras and own one. I know almost everything about them. 100% for sure, without a doubt, would bet my whole familys and my life on it, the infromation I provided above is correct. Now I should tell you how I REALLY feel, huh? lol :)

Go to the site I pasted and look at the front grill on the pic of the 2003 cobra. You know its a cobra because for many reasons other then just road and track saying it is, the fog lights (cobras have them, gts do not), the shape of the side view mirrors (much more streamlined on the cobras and 2 tone, much more square on the gts and one solid color), the rims (five star with the svt logo, gt are not 5 star and have no SVT logo), the hood (the two holes which are heat extractors, gts dont have this, they have a non functional hood scoop), the width of the tires (cobra has 275’s, much wider then gt tires), the rear spoiler is flat on the trunk (not raised off the trunk like the gts), the word “cobra” imprinted on the rear bumper (gts have “mustang” imprinted on the rear bumper), the svt badge on the rear of the cobra (gts dont have a SVT badge).

Q: What is the difference between a Ford Mustang GT and a Ford Mustang Cobra?
I think the cobra is completely different from the mustang, but my son thinks the cobra is a type of mustang. Please discuss. Since the mustang is over 40 years old, this could be quite a discussion. Any car experts out there?

A: Cobras are high performance GT’s which are mass produced by both Ford and Shelby American Inc. Cobras are supercharged, have different decals, paint jobs, exhaust systems, and performance parts.

Q: Would a 2003 mustang cobra engine fit in a 2004 mustang gt?

A: a twelve or thirteen MM wrench for the battery cables and I believe the hold down bolt is a thirteen socket with at least 12 inches of extension to reach it……good luck!!!!

My Dad has a 1978 Mustang Cobra II that he is trying to sell… He has completley re-done the motor. It has a racing cam in it and only a 5 gallon gas tank so i guess that it is made for raceing. He almost has it finished but is just done messing with it…What are some good prices to put on it…And does anyone know some people that might be interested?

A: they are starting to become collectible (to some people) if they are all original. to get an idea what it might bring check them out on ebay if there is any listed. then figure on getting a little less if you sell locally.

A: The hood has to 2 scoops that make it resemble a cobra head, if it has stock rims those are different too. Most have SVT badging and the rear bumper says Cobra. Some have little cobra decals on the front fenders.

A: They go for around $2500-$4500 depending on year and mileage. The 97 Cobra came with a T-45. The T-45 is also found on all 1996- mid 2001 GTs (manual transmissions of course). If you said what year and what transmission your GT is it would help.

i want to get a 99 mustang cobra. but i heard there is some difference between the 99 and 03-04 model. like what is difference like from in side and out, under the hood to behind the from left to right.

A: There was a lot of differences. First I’ll start outside. The front bumper had bigger openings around the fog lights with ducting to cool the front brakes. The hood used an open dual heat extractor style venting. The rear spoiler was flush with the decklid instead of raised like a wing. It came with 17×9″ wheels instead of 17×8s on the 99, and had 275/40-17 tires all around instead of 245/45-17s on the 99. They both had independent rear suspension, but the 03-04 was stiffened with 31 spline axles instead of the 99-01’s 28 spline axles for more strength. The 99 was an all aluminum 6 bolt engine with DOHC heads, 2 cams per head, made 320hp and 317ft-lb stock. The 03-04 was an iron block aluminum DOHC 2 cam per head with an Eaton 112ci supercharger huffing approximately 6psi of boost into the engine to make a rated 390hp and 390ft-lb, but actually makes about 420hp. The 99 Cobra uses either a T-45 or T-3650 5 speed manual trans depending on which half of the production it was in, while the 03-04 has a T-56 6 speed manual transmission. The 99-01 cobra weighed in around 3400lbs coupe, 3550 for convertible, the 03-04 coupe was just under 3700 and the convertible was almost 3900. The interior was a little bit nicer in the 03-04, but otherwise was almost identical, other than better leather and better side support on the seats.

A: $65.-100 per hour for labor depending on where you live and you will not likely be able to supply your own parts.

A: Doesn’t have to be exactly 95 seats… most any of them will fit.

Q: can i take seats out of a mustang cobra and put them in my camaro z28?
Hi, well my grandma has a totaled Mustang Cobra with really nice leather seats. I was wanting to take them out and put them in my 2000 Camaro Z28. Is this possible? I think the bolt pattern is a quarter of an inch off can you make a new bolt pattern or what do you have to do? And assume the bolt pattern is the same is it possible? Thanks to whoever helps!

A: With alittle fab work you can put just about any seat in just about any car.

Easiest way to do this swap, due to the diff in the floor pans of the two cars is just to swap the seat tracks (mounts)

Take the sliders off both sets of seats, put the camaro tracks on the mustang seats.. You may have to drill a hole or use a pc of metal to make a hole or two line up but nothing too major

Q: What is a Ford Mustang Cobra Shinoda?
We are trying to find a value for a 1995 Ford Mustang Cobra Shinoda. It has 5,600 original miles and has been garaged it’s entire life (never seen rain or snow!). It is a beautiful red.
The word “Shinoda” is attached to the Cobra emblams on the car.

A: The “Boss Shinoda” package was a graphics and body kit available for the Mustang in the mid 90’s. Mechanically it was bone stock, so if it was a GT it had the 5.0L V8 rated at 215 hp, the Cobra had the 5.0L V8 rated at 240hp (Due to SVT GT40 heads and intake) However, I don’t think the Shinoda pacakge was ever placed on a Cobra so I would make sure it was a real Cobra and not just a rebaged Mustang GT. Basically, its a better looking, but not higher performing, Mustang GT.
